  • New perspectives
  • Increased confidence

WISER e-Mentoring Scheme

WISER also runs an e-Mentoring Scheme. This exciting and innovative new online initiative has been developed to harness the benefits of traditional mentoring schemes for women in self employment in an accessible online format. Through the scheme, we hope to engage more self employed women in business mentoring, build strong networks and provide a resource where skills, expertise and knowledge can be shared. Mentoring meetings will function on a ‘one-off’ basis via e-technology (e.g. Skype, email, telephone) and are designed to provide focused guidance on specific subjects or queries.

We are currently looking for experienced self employed women willing to act as e-mentors in the scheme to create an online mentor ‘profile’ for the pilot stage. These mentor profiles will then be uploaded onto the WAVE WISER E-Mentoring section of the website for prospective mentees to browse. Prospective mentees can make contact with the mentor through the WAVE WISER Mentoring Officer, who will act as intermediary.

This approach to mentoring is perfect if you feel you cannot make the commitment to a regular long-term mentoring relationship, but still have skills, experience and expertise which you would like to pass on to an aspiring women business owner as a mentor.

About Us

The aim of the WAVE programme is to understand and ‘interrupt’ the ways in which gender pay inequalities are consistently reproduced through occupational segregation in employment and self employment, through the ways in which ‘women’s work is contracted’ and through the operation of pay systems.
