Masterclass Weekend

Enterprising Women Masterclass at Atrium, University of South Wales.

Women Adding Value to the Economy (WAVE) lead partner based at University of South Wales, FBS was delighted to invite local business women who work or live in the convergence areas of Wales to benefit from an exclusive opportunity to attend an International Masterclass at Atrium last weekend.

Christine Atkinson, developed the opportunity through her work as Deputy Director of the Centre for Enterprise and Head of Women’s Entrepreneurship, University of South Wales (currently Director of the Women Adding Value to the Economy (WAVE) Programme)

The event took place take place on Saturday 31st January and Sunday 1st February. The fantastic, ESF funded, weekend offered women the unique opportunity to focus on their businesses or new business ideas in the company of other enterprising women.  The Masterclass was led by Antoine El Hage, Marketing Consultant and Visiting Lecturer with Novancia Business School, Paris. Antoine is internationally recognised for his work and frequently runs pioneering international entrepreneurship bootcamps, so it was an honour to have him lead this event in South Wales.

The weekend was completed with a networking event ‘Proud to be Based in Wales and Operating in the Global Market’, where participants were given the opportunity to hear from guest speaker Anna Bastek who’s the CEO of Wolfestone about her experiences of operating businesses with an international dimension. Offering their tips, hints and advice – as well as ideas on avoiding the pitfalls! It was an excellent platform for Welsh business women to consider the opportunities and implications of an international dimension in their businesses.

About Us

The aim of the WAVE programme is to understand and ‘interrupt’ the ways in which gender pay inequalities are consistently reproduced through occupational segregation in employment and self employment, through the ways in which ‘women’s work is contracted’ and through the operation of pay systems.

The WAVE programme has now concluded after 3 successful years.  There are still loads of fantastic organisations that you can get involved with, take a look!
